About the firm
A small practice built around a simple idea: people who are struggling with debt deserve clear answers and to be treated with respect.
Fifteen years of helping people start over
I opened Fresh Start Law because I wanted to practice law the way I believed it should be practiced for people in financial trouble: plainly, patiently, and without the cold, clinical tone that makes a hard moment harder. Over 15+ years, I have sat with hundreds of people in Central Ohio who arrived certain they had failed. Almost none of them had. They had simply hit something that millions of people hit: medical bills, a lost job, a divorce, a business that did not work out.
My practice is consumer bankruptcy and debt relief, and that focus is deliberate. It means I know this area well, and it means I am not trying to be everything to everyone. When you call, you reach a firm that does this work every day and treats it as quiet, steady, important work, because for the person on the other end, it is.
I will always tell you the truth, even when it is not what you hoped to hear, and even when it means recommending that you not file. That is the standard I would want if I were the one making the call.

How we work
A few principles that shape every conversation we have.
No judgment
You will not be lectured here. Whatever brought you to this point is more common than you think, and it does not change how you are treated.
Plain language
We do not hide behind legal terms. If something is confusing, that is our cue to explain it better, not yours to feel lost.
Honest advice
If filing is not in your interest, we will tell you. Our reputation rests on people leaving glad they called, not on filing every case.
